FitsMe: Recipes That Fit You

Never miss an update by Liking Carrigan's Joy on Facebook!

I can really struggle with weekly meal planning for my family. I've got the meals that I call "traditional weekly grub" that I know are quick, easy, and I can throw together between kids' soccer practice and homework time, but when it comes to actually exploring new tastes and pleasures, I'm sorta at a loss.

That's what I love about FitsMe. It is packed with gorgeous recipes, illustrated with pictures, cook times, and nutritional info. And we all know home cooked meals are more affordable as well as more nutritious, and what a great way to get the family involved! Check it out, sign up today, and let me know which recipe you'll be cooking up first!

FitsMe gives you the tools to create a food personality profile that incorporates your unique food preferences and dietary needs. Over time we'll learn what foods you like to eat most often and how you like to prepare them with our "forks up, forks down" system.
We want to make cooking at home more convenient by helping you discover new recipes and plan out meals that fit you.

Mamavation Monday: Horrified and Ready For Change

Mamavation MondayThis probably wont be the most positive Mamavation post I'll write, but at least it's sobering.

I received an email last night in regards to the professional pictures that were taken during my last 5k, April 20. I clicked the link, typed in my last name, and was then shocked at what I saw. Myself. Running.

I quietly closed the laptop and walked into the kitchen and picked up the book I'd been reading, Eat To Live. I decided at that moment that I was doing it. No excuses. Nothing. Nothing left but change.

I am too ashamed to show that picture today. I hope, in time, I'll be able to use it as a comparative picture for all the progress I plan to make in the next couple of months.

I am very grateful for the picture. I didn't realized how large my body had gotten. I guess I've been living in denial. It's time to open my eyes.

I plan to write a daily entry during this transformation. Join me, if you'd like. I'd love to hear stories of other's who live the Eat To Live way. It's basically large amounts of raw, cooked vegetables, fruits, and beans. No dairy. No meats.

I gotta do something. And this is what I'm doing.

Ok, That Was Just De-lish: Health Food Bananza

Yesterday I had a craving: almonds dipped in yogurt. I was also craving a jar of olives to which I got and ate...almost the whole jar. Anyway, the almonds and yogurt, even though to my head or stomach seemed like a great treat, just didn't come about. However, it did spark the idea to finally try plain yogurt {or actually vanilla} with fresh fruit.

I'd seen this treat advertised as a healthy alternative to to junk foods and even to some other processed yogurts so this morning I gave it a shot...and fell in love with it.

A cup of vanilla yogurt - 210 calories w/ 11 grams of protein
A small hand full of fresh blueberries - 20 calories
A teaspoon of flaxseed for fiber benefits - 20 calories

And what a treat it was! The only other item I think I'd like to add next is granola. I do believe this is going to become a regular breakfast and even snack food in this house.

What about You, what new health food/snack have you tried?
